SBS implemented their new Makerspace Program for the lower grades in the 2019-2020 school year. It is a large collaborative space focused on engaging our young learners in creative, higher-order problem-solving through hands-on design and invention.
Makerspaces have the potential to effectively address the necessary skillsets for students in the 21st Century. Students learn new skills and technologies as they build, tinker, and design. New skill sets are built especially when they learn to do these things together.
One of most important aspects of our makerspace program is empowering our students to be creative and to explore interests that are of individual importance to them.
